Confidentiality Protocols

ACADEMIA Biota Nexus Journal (ABNJ) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality, integrity, and ethical responsibility throughout the editorial and publication process. All manuscripts and related communications are treated as strictly confidential to protect the rights, intellectual property, and privacy of authors, reviewers, and editors.

1. Confidentiality of Submitted Manuscripts

All manuscripts submitted to ABNJ are regarded as confidential documents. Editors, editorial staff, and reviewers will not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, editorial advisors, and the publisher, as appropriate.

Manuscripts under review will not be shared, discussed, or used for personal advantage by any member of the editorial team or reviewers.

2. Reviewer Confidentiality

ABNJ follows a double-blind peer-review process, ensuring that:

  • The identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other.

  • Reviewers must treat all manuscripts as privileged information.

  • Reviewers are prohibited from sharing, copying, or retaining manuscript content beyond the review process.

  • Reviewers must not use unpublished material for personal research or professional gain.

Any breach of reviewer confidentiality will be considered a serious ethical violation.

3. Editorial Confidentiality

Editors and editorial board members are required to:

  • Handle all submissions and communications with discretion and professionalism.

  • Refrain from discussing manuscript details outside the editorial process.

  • Avoid conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where a conflict exists.

Editorial decisions are based solely on scholarly merit and relevance to the journal’s scope.

4. Author Confidentiality and Data Protection

ABNJ respects the privacy of authors and ensures that:

  • Personal information (such as names, affiliations, and contact details) is used only for journal-related purposes.

  • Author data is not shared with third parties without explicit consent, except where required by law or publishing standards.

  • Manuscripts, reviewer reports, and editorial correspondence are securely stored within the journal’s submission and management system.

5. Confidentiality of Research Data

Authors are encouraged to ensure that sensitive research data—particularly involving endangered species, protected habitats, human subjects, or proprietary biotechnological methods—are handled in accordance with ethical and legal standards.

Where applicable, editors may request clarification or redaction of sensitive information prior to publication.

6. Post-Publication Confidentiality

Even after publication decisions are made:

  • Reviewer identities remain confidential.

  • Internal editorial discussions and peer-review reports are not disclosed without consent.

  • Rejected manuscripts remain confidential and are not archived or reused beyond editorial records.

7. Breach of Confidentiality

Any suspected breach of confidentiality by authors, reviewers, or editors should be reported immediately to the Editor-in-Chief. ABNJ will investigate such matters thoroughly and may take appropriate corrective or disciplinary action in accordance with international publication ethics guidelines.
