Abstract

The research has studied the effect of social media and belief in fake news on political polarization. The data were collected via questionnaire from the 396 respondents by using multi stage sampling. For the purpose of the analysis, the linear regression was applied. The statistical analysis has also showed that exposure to social media and belief in fake news have effect on political polarization.  The study has recommended to the policy makers and all stakeholders to take steps to set up more fact-check mechanism and awareness among the people to minimize the negative effects of exposure to social media and fake news on political polarization to reduce its negatives influence in the society.
