Editorial Process

Editorial Process

ACADEMIA International Journal for Social Sciences (AIJSS)

At AIJSS, we are committed to a transparent, ethical, and academically rigorous editorial process. Every manuscript submitted to the journal undergoes a structured evaluation to ensure scholarly excellence, ethical compliance, and disciplinary relevance. The following workflow outlines the complete editorial journey from submission to publication:

1. Manuscript Submission

All manuscripts must be submitted through the official AIJSS submission portal:
???? https://academia.edu.pk/index.php/Journals

Submissions must strictly adhere to the journal’s author guidelines regarding formatting, referencing, and ethical requirements.

2. Initial Screening and Plagiarism Check

Upon submission, the editorial office conducts a preliminary screening to ensure that the manuscript:

  • Falls within the journal's thematic and disciplinary scope

  • Meets ethical standards, including IRB or institutional approvals if required

  • Passes plagiarism detection (Turnitin or equivalent software is used)

Note: Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 15% may be returned for revision or rejected.

3. Assignment to Section Editor

Eligible manuscripts are assigned to a Section or Associate Editor based on the subject matter. The assigned editor evaluates the manuscript for:

  • Relevance and originality

  • Methodological soundness

  • Theoretical contribution or policy relevance

4. Double-Blind Peer Review

Manuscripts that meet editorial criteria proceed to double-blind peer review. At least two independent reviewers evaluate each submission anonymously based on:

  • Originality and scholarly contribution

  • Research design and methodology

  • Relevance to the field of social sciences

  • Coherence of argument and literature engagement

  • Ethical rigor and data integrity

5. Reviewer Recommendations

Reviewers submit their feedback with one of the following recommendations:

Accept as is
✏️ Accept with minor revisions
???? Major revisions required
Reject

6. Editorial Decision

The Section Editor, in consultation with the Editor-in-Chief when necessary, makes a final decision based on reviewer reports. Authors receive an official decision letter accompanied by anonymized reviewer comments and clear revision guidelines, if applicable.

7. Author Revisions

Authors are required to revise their manuscripts within the stipulated timeframe and provide a detailed point-by-point response to reviewer comments. Depending on the extent of revisions:

  • The manuscript may undergo a second round of review

  • Or be re-evaluated by the editorial team

8. Final Acceptance

Once the revised manuscript satisfies all editorial and peer review expectations, a final acceptance letter is issued, and the article proceeds to the production stage.

9. Copyediting and Proofreading

Accepted manuscripts undergo thorough editorial editing for clarity, consistency, formatting, and grammar. Authors are sent final proofs for approval before publication.

10. Online Publication

The finalized article is published in the upcoming issue of AIJSS and made available online with open access under the journal’s licensing and publication policies.

11. Post-Publication Dissemination

AIJSS actively promotes published articles through:

  • Inclusion in academic indexing and databases

  • Institutional and disciplinary networks

  • Social media platforms and newsletters

  • Citation alerts and cross-promotional academic partnerships

Authors are encouraged to share their published work to maximize reach, citation, and academic impact
