Abstract

Effective communication is a fundamental element of teaching, leadership, and interpersonal relationships. This study explores the communication strategies employed by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) through a thematic analysis of authentic Hadith. Adopting a qualitative research design, the study analyzed purposively selected narrations from Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim using Braun and Clarke's thematic analysis framework. The analysis identified six major communication strategies: (1) audience-centred and clear communication, (2) educational communication through questions, stories, and analogies, (3) reinforcement through repetition, (4) compassionate and motivational communication, (5) effective use of non-verbal communication, and (6) contextual and situational communication. The findings demonstrate that the Prophetic communication model integrates clarity, empathy, educational effectiveness, adaptability, and ethical responsibility. Furthermore, these themes closely align with contemporary theories of communication, education, leadership, and psychology, highlighting the enduring relevance of Prophetic communication in modern contexts. The study contributes to the literature by synthesizing recurring communication strategies into a unified thematic framework and offers practical implications for educators, leaders, counsellors, and religious scholars seeking to promote ethical and effective communication practices.
