Abstract

This study examined the attitudes of university librarians in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) toward artificial intelligence (AI) literacy and its impact on job performance. A quantitative research design was employed, using a structured questionnaire and stratified proportionate random sampling to collect data from 86 librarians across different designations. The findings revealed a generally positive attitude toward AI literacy (M = 3.71, SD = .418) and high levels of job performance (M = 4.39, SD = .799). Inferential analyses (t-test and ANOVA) indicated no statistically significant differences in AI literacy attitudes or job performance based on gender, institution, or designation. The study concludes that librarians in KP demonstrate strong readiness for AI adoption. It recommends the development of structured AI literacy training programs to further enhance librarians’ professional performance.
