Abstract

This study explores the attitudes of Sindhi and Urdu-speaking parents toward teaching their mother tongue to their children at Creative Mind School (CMS) Sakrand. Language is not only a means of communication but also a source of cultural identity, social values, and emotional attachment. In multilingual societies like Pakistan, the importance of preserving mother languages has become a significant educational and social concern. The main objective of this research is to examine how parents perceive the role of mother tongue education in their children’s learning, personality development, and cultural preservation. The study adopts a qualitative and quantitative approach by collecting data through questionnaires and interviews from Sindhi and Urdu-speaking parents of CMS Sakrand. The research investigates parents’ preferences regarding language use at home and school, their opinions about English-medium education, and the challenges they face in teaching their native language to their children. The findings of the study are expected to highlight the growing influence of dominant languages on local languages and the changing attitudes of parents toward mother tongue instruction. This research may help educators, policymakers, and parents understand the importance of promoting multilingual education while preserving linguistic and cultural identity among future generations.
