Abstract

This article presents an analytical study of the methodology and stylistic features of the fatwas of Mufti Gul Hassan Sahib. Fatwa occupies a significant position in Islamic society as a means of guiding individuals and resolving religious and social issues in the light of the Qur’an, Sunnah, and juristic principles. The present research examines the principles, sources, and intellectual trends reflected in Mufti Gul Hasan Sahib’s fatwas, with particular focus on his juristic methodology, manner of legal reasoning, and style of expression. The study highlights his reliance on classical Hanafi jurisprudence, use of Qur’anic and Prophetic evidences, consideration of social circumstances, and emphasis on moral and societal reform. It also analyzes the linguistic simplicity, clarity, and reformative tone found in his fatwa, which make them accessible and relevant to the common public. Furthermore, the article explores his approach toward contemporary issues, customary practices, and the purification of un-Islamic social traditions. Using an analytical and descriptive research method, this study concludes that Mufti Gul Hasan Sahib’s fatwas represent a balanced combination of traditional juristic adherence and practical social guidance. His method of ifta demonstrates scholarly depth, reformative concern, and a strong commitment to preserving Islamic values within changing social contexts.
