Rasheed Bhatti’s Translation of crime and punishment is the finest example of adaptation. He saw the subject, atmosphere and social circumstances of the novel very identical to the conditions of his own nation. This led him to transform this novel in accordance with our local conditions rather than merely translating this novel. This novel is a reflection of political economic and social conditions of Sindh. Rasheed Bhatti really did hard work in giving local colors of Sindh to the novel. The main character of this novel “Siraaj” is portrayed in accordance with the socio-cultural conditions of Sindh. His treatment of the character “Siraaj” is familiar to us and very pleasant. Portrayal of “Siraaj” is so natural that its seems as if the character belongs to Sindh and not to Russia. He has presented the phycological analysis of the characters who struggle against the pessimism and frustration in highly effective manner.
