Abstract

This study presents a comparative analysis of the modern methodologies of da‘wah adopted by Dawat e Islami and Tableeghi Jamat. Both movements are globally recognized Islamic revivalist organizations that aim at the moral, spiritual, and social reform of individuals; however, they differ significantly in their contemporary approaches to religious outreach. The research highlights that Dawat-e-Islami employs a structured, institutional, and multi-dimensional model of da‘wah, integrating formal educational institutions, training centers, media platforms, digital outreach, and organized missionary caravans. This approach reflects adaptability to modern communication systems and aims to expand outreach through diversified and technologically supported channels. In contrast, Tablighi Jamaat maintains a non-institutional, simple, and face-to-face model of da‘wah, primarily focusing on spiritual reform through personal interaction, mosque-based activities, field visits (khurooj), and a concise six-point curriculum. Its methodology emphasizes sincerity, simplicity, and direct human engagement while largely avoiding formal media and technological dependence. The study concludes that although both movements differ in structure and methodology, they share common objectives, including spiritual purification, adherence to the Sunnah, moral development, and individual reformation leading to societal improvement. Their divergence lies primarily in their operational strategies, with Dawat-e-Islami representing a modern institutional and media-oriented model, while Tablighi Jamaat reflects a traditional, grassroots, and experience-based approach to da‘wah.
