Abstract

In Pakistan, terrorism has been a high drain on the national sovereignty; it presents multifaceted legal, political, and security challenges. The given research paper examines the complex relationship between Pakistan's national sovereignty and its contributions to the War on Terror. In the study paper, we examine the annual data on the terrorist attacks and casualty figures from 2000 to 2024, which illuminate the extreme loss of state sovereignty due to attacks by civilians, security forces, and insurgents. The statistics show that there was a fluctuating pattern of killing incidents and deaths, with the worst year being 2009, with 11317 deaths due to 1,665 incidents. The challenge of this phase of violence magnitude is highlighted by the massive cost of human suffering and the widespread vulnerability to Pakistan's stability. Although there have been attempts to fight terrorism, the fact that these problems persist indicates the need to develop holistic approaches that address the causes of the problem and improve the efficacy of counter-terrorism policies. Through a qualitative textual analysis and quantitative statistical analysis of trends and implications, this paper will offer a subtle insight into the current war on terrorism being waged in Pakistan and its implications for national sovereignty and national security policy. It examines the numeric data, legal, political, and security challenges that hinder the effective implementation of counter-terrorism measures. Through an in-depth analysis, the paper seeks to provide a comprehensive understanding of these impediments due to textual and data analysis and offers recommendations for overcoming them.
